A world record was shattered by a nervy young bike rider in the city this afternoon. Riding his wheel along a four inch board, 150 feet long, in a strong wind and with rain sprinkling down. Henry Patterson established a new world record of 10,750 feet, adding one lap to the former record. He was given the gold watch for winning the event from a large field of boys and won a silver medal for establishing a new world's record. Cheers from the throng greeted the youngster as he finished.

This was one of the feature events on the afternoon program of Bicycle day. The day started with a parade of decorated bicycles at 10 a.m., and was followed by other interesting events on Rood Avenue, between Fifth and Sixth. A complete list of the various winners was not available this afternoon, and it will appear in The Sentinel tomorrow morning.
